Position Description & Details
Join Bismarck State Colleges team and play a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and student-centered campus environment. The Community Standards Coordinator is responsible for implementing student policies, procedures, and practices that promote student success and well-being. This position leads the administration of the student conduct process and Student Assistance Team, collaborates with campus partners to address student concerns, and provides education, outreach, and training to support a thriving campus community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Student Code of Conduct process, ensuring fair, consistent, and educational outcomes.
- Oversee Student Assistance Team operations, including case management, interventions, documentation, and follow-up.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate policies, procedures, and resources related to student conduct, including the student handbook and website.
- Maintain student conduct records and data systems in compliance with institutional policies and applicable state and federal regulations, including Clery Act reporting requirements.
- Collect, analyze, and report data to identify trends, support decision-making, and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Develop and facilitate prevention, awareness, and educational programming focused on community standards and student success.
- Provide training and consultation for students, faculty, staff, and administrators regarding student conduct processes and students of concern.
- Serve as a resource and liaison to campus departments, committees, and divisions to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Support student engagement, retention, and success through proactive outreach initiatives.
- Participate in campus committees, professional organizations, and collaborative initiatives.
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance departmental and institutional effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Social Work, Counseling, or related field, or bachelor's degree with 2 years of directly related experience.
- Experience supporting student behavior management, accountability process, or related student development functions.
- Demonstrated ability using case management systems or similar databases.
- Two years of supervisory and/or management experience.
- Experience in identifying individual needs, coordinating services, and making appropriate support referrals.
- Strong advocacy and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies; helping skills.
- The skill to establish rapport and work harmoniously with faculty, staff, students, public school personnel and others.
- Ability to plan, organize, and determine methods that produce desired results and meet required deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in working knowledge of computer software programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
PRERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous Higher Education experience.
- Experience administering or supporting Student Code of Conduct processes.
- Experience working with staff, faculty, and administrators in an educational setting.
