Position Summary

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for assigned department program; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for assigned department program.
  • Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned program services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental contractual agreements to include site visits, vendor audits, and monitoring reviews.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and oversee various assigned programs; enhance collaboration and coordinate among participants.
  • Review existing and proposed ordinances and policies relative to assigned area of responsibility; prepare recommendations for supervisory staff.
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of assigned program staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  • Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned program budget; submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
  • Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities of assigned programs.
  • Research and develop partnerships with various communities related to community services and educational initiatives.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of social service programs.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the social sciences or related field; and

Three (3) years of community services program experience; and

To include one (1) year supervisory or technical lead experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid New Mexico Drivers License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operators Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Working Conditions

Environmental:

Office and field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to computer screens.

Physical:

Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized vehicles.
