TITLE: High School Community Service Coordinator

STIPEND: $1,000 per school year

SUMMARY: The High School Community Service Coordinator''s role is to partner with the Building Principal and other administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, School Council, community members, and students to design and implement programs and community service opportunities within the school community or local community that meet the needs of students, their families, and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and coordinate community service projects for High School students.
  • Communicate with community organizations, local businesses, and Town/District departments and offices regarding volunteer needs.
  • Coordinate community service projects with community organizations, local businesses, and Town/District departments and offices and follow-up to ensure that they are completed successfully.
  • Assist in the facilitation of community service orientation for freshmen students.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with community organizations, local businesses, and Town/District departments and offices regarding their ongoing/evolving needs.
  • Communicate with students regarding their community service plan and monitor progress towards goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Current member of the Oxford Public Schools Oxford Education Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Effective interpersonal skills, clear and effective oral and written communication skills, strong community-service experience, sensitivity to working with people from diverse backgrounds, and willingness to work at times when students and community members are available, including evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work is generally performed primarily indoors and predominantly in a school classroom.
