Provide safety and security for personnel, students and community members at assigned Elementary schools within Chesterfield.

In connection with the school(s) assigned, conduct and assist with problem solving with both public and private schools on school related issues.

Conduct and assist with community presentations within the Elementary schools located in Chesterfield.

Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances.

Provide safety and security for community members attending functions at the City of Chesterfield owned parks and athletic facilities.

Conduct various patrol activities at City of Chesterfield owned parks and athletic facilities to include foot and bike patrols.

Conduct traffic direction and traffic and parking enforcement at Chesterfield schools, parks and athletic facilities.

Conducts investigations of criminal offenses, missing persons, and all public safety incidents.

Renders first aid as needed.

Arrest criminal and traffic violators. Issues citations and testifies in legal proceedings when necessary.

Writes reports of offenses, accidents, arrests, and other public safety incidents.

Intervenes and mediates in crisis situations and all types of disputes.

Provides high law enforcement visibility to deter crime and inspire community sense of security.

Gives information and aids motorists and the public.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Skills in vehicle operation and use of firearms. Skills in mediation and self-defense techniques. Knowledge of local, state, and federal criminal law and applicable law. Knowledge of human behavior and motivation. Ability to communicate effectively with all types of individuals. Ability to remain calm and decisive under extreme stress. Ability to establish rapport and good working relationships with various community members. Knowledge of department policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Two years of college credit preferred. Must possess a valid Missouri P.O.S.T. certification. Must possess a valid State Driver's License. Must pass a physical proficiency test prior to employment and on an annual basis there-after, as a condition of continued employment. Prior experience as a Police Officer preferred.
