Position Overview

The 5 Girls Community Pod Leader will facilitate an engaging, inclusive, and empowering community-based program for five female adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). This position focuses on promoting independence, community inclusion, social development, self-confidence, and life skills through meaningful experiences and activities.

The Pod Leader will plan and lead community outings, volunteer opportunities, recreational activities, and educational experiences while creating a supportive environment where participants can thrive. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, compassionate, and committed to helping individuals reach their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development

  • Design and implement creative community-based programs tailored to the interests, goals, and abilities of participants.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and activities that promote independence, socialization, life skills, and community involvement.
  • Create opportunities for participants to engage in volunteer work, recreational activities, educational experiences, and community events.

Facilitation & Leadership

  • Lead daily activities and community outings for a group of five female participants.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that encourages confidence, growth, and self-expression.
  • Promote teamwork, friendship building, and positive social interactions.

Participant Support

  • Assess individual needs and provide personalized support and encouragement.
  • Assist participants with achieving personal goals and increasing independence.
  • Build positive relationships with participants while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants at all times.

Community Engagement

  • Coordinate volunteer opportunities and community partnerships.
  • Encourage participants to become active members of their community.
  • Organize events and activities that showcase participants' talents and abilities.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and Medicaid requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings and training opportunities.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with supervisors, coworkers, caregivers, and community partners.
  • Share ideas, progress updates, and feedback to support participant success.
  • Assist in creating a positive and collaborative work environment.
 
Qualifications:  Must have a valid NC Driver License, and dependable transportation. Must be willing to transport Individuals in your personal vehicle. Must be willing to work in a group setting with Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. 
  • Education:
    • High school diploma required.
  • Experience:
    • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities in a creative or educational setting.
    • Strong background in theatre arts, including performance, directing, and workshop facilitation.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about creative arts.
    • Creative thinker with a passion for empowering others through the arts.
Additional Requirements:
  • Background check clearance.
  • First aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for evening events.
Compensation:
  • $16.00/hour minimum; pay increases based on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Working Lunch)
