Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent with knowledge of the practical application of recreation service programs with previous experience in a health care setting desirable
- Ability to manage multiple objectives and tasks
- Data entry, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, file maintenance, strong organizational and accuracy skills are required
- Demonstrate skills and ability in working with and understanding the needs of the residents
- Possess strong verbal, written and proofing skills
- Demonstrate skills in time-management
- Possess the ability to accept and utilize professional supervision, consultation, and in-service training
- Possess the ability to handle confidential information with professional discretion in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations
- Must enjoy interacting with elderly population
- Must be able to communicate in the English language
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds
Must have weekend availability.
Shifts:
Part time (20 hours/week)
Monday - Friday - working hours between 8am - 5pm, occasional evenings and weekends
The Community Life Services Assistant is responsible for a variety of clerical and life enrichment functions. This position serves as the primary support person for the Community Life Services Manager and is the primary coordinator responsible for managing volunteers for the community. The Community Life Services Administrative Assistant will be actively involved with Residents and focus on Resident satisfaction. The Assistant will also work with volunteers, staff, entertainers, and other vendors who support the department in its mission.
Position Outcomes
- Provide clerical support and project coordination for the Community Life Services Manager in an organized and timely manner
- Maintain activity areas in an organized manner, ensuring resident safety during programs
- Prioritize work responsibilities to meet department goals
- Recruit volunteers from the community, resident population, their families and friends and other interested parties through a variety of means
- Identify ways to best connect volunteers with their interests/capabilities
- Maintain a priority list for volunteer opportunities
- Ensure all volunteers are tested and oriented/trained commensurate with the volunteer duties assigned
- Implement means for recognizing volunteers and their activities
- Track and record volunteer hours
- Assist with assessment of resident satisfaction through feedback from residents' attendance at activities and resident visits
- Communicate resident needs and/or requests to the Community Life Services Manager
