We are looking for a Community Justice Worker Temp!

Are you looking to start your criminal justice career and make a positive impact on the Larimer County community? Larimer County Community Justice Alternatives is a premier criminal justice agency that offers alternatives to traditional incarceration. You would work in a state-of-the-art facility, and your shifts would be spent interacting with our diverse clients.

The Community Justice Worker Temp serves as an entry-level position within Community Justice Alternatives (CJA) and provides invaluable knowledge and experience in the criminal justice field. This part-time position can provide schedule flexibility, based on department needs, to accommodate school schedules and standing commitments. Success in this position often leads to the possibility of full-time employment as a Community Justice Specialist or similar position.

In this position, you could be assigned to any of the following departments:

  • Community Corrections is a residential program that aims to reintegrate clients who have committed felonies into the local community.
  • Alternative Sentencings Pretrial Unit is an agency that supervises and monitors people before they are sentenced.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

  • Supervising clients directly and ensuring accountability.
  • Conducting orientations to explain facility and program rules and procedures to new clients.
  • Monitoring the safety and security of the facility, which includes but is not limited to conducting searches of clients, their belongings, and living areas; performing facility security and perimeter checks, and supervising visitation.
  • Collecting urinalysis samples, completing related documentation, and submitting samples for drug testing; administering breathalyzer tests.
  • Maintaining client accountability through formal counts, checking clients in and out of the facility, conducting on-site or phone location checks, and performing random activity monitoring.
  • Investigating program violations, preparing incident reports, determining appropriate sanctions (up to revocation and transfer to a secure facility), and providing recommendations.
  • Monitoring client medications.
  • Performing administrative tasks, including documenting client behavior, maintaining client records, and processing billing and program-related documents.
  • Assisting with other duties necessary for effective job performance.

  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and security practices in a correctional setting.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and following reporting procedures.
  • Ability to understand and apply department and County rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skills to effectively address and resolve conflicts.
  • Certification in CPR and the administration of Narcan (training offered by department) with the ability and willingness to respond to medical emergencies such as seizures and overdoses.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three months of experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Drivers License is required.

Supplemental Information

This is a divisional posting for the Correctional Services Worker Temp position, which will be used to fill current vacancies and create an eligibility list for future vacancies. The eligibility list will be used as positions become available within the Larimer County Community Corrections Department and the Larimer County Alternative Sentencing Department.

The schedule for this position varies based on department placement and may include days, weekends, evenings, overnights, and/or holidays. Since this is a part-time, temporary role, our Supervisors try to work around school schedules and other requirements as best as possible while prioritizing business needs.

An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of required pre-employment checks or testing.
