Overview

Community Justice Alternatives is seeking a Community Justice Transport Specialist to join our team!

Community Justice Transport Specialists work extensively with the juvenile court system and the Department of Human Services to manage and transport juveniles who have been detained by law enforcement on a 24/7 basis. They also provide standby services for juveniles at the HUB and provide courtroom supervision for juveniles during court appearances. Additionally, they assist staff at Community Corrections with various client management tasks, including home visits for community supervision clients, monitoring of residential clients, and secure placement in custody. Other duties include transporting juveniles to court-ordered evaluations/assessments and to juvenile detention facilities.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

  • Transports and supervises the safe transport of juvenile offenders to and from the courts, detention facilities, the Hub, and other designated areas.
  • Performs de-escalation and compliance techniques with juveniles and adult Community Correction clients
  • Exercises indirect supervision over juveniles/offenders.
  • Performs physical body searches of clients prior to transporting youth.
  • Coordinates transport scheduling with law enforcement and other agencies.
  • Provides standby security services at the Hub, Court, medical, or other facilities.
  • Performs administrative and record-keeping duties in support of the program; documents juvenile/offender behavior and activities; maintains juvenile/offender records; processes various billing and/or program statistical data and related agency documents.
  • Maintains current, accurate, and chronological case notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Inventories and provides maintenance to assigned equipment; responsible for vehicle maintenance and scheduling.
  • Attends Court appearances.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

  • Two (2) years of higher education, or any combination of education, training or experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
  • Possession of a valid Drivers License by date of hire required.
  • Possession of Adult CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within six (6) months of hire is required.
  • Possession of Pressure Point Control Tactics certification within six (6) months of hire.

Shifts are bid annually based on seniority and a variety of shifts are offered in this position.
