Minimum Requirements Associates degree or two (2) years of college level or post secondary education in Recreation, Physical Education or related field. Requires two (2) years of full time equivalent experience in recreation work at a professional or paraprofessional level in one or more of the primary functional areas of recreation. When assigned to Therapeutic Recreation: must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a therapeutic recreation environment, to include experience in settings such as: adapted physical education, special education, and residential/institutional settings inclusive of individuals with disabilities. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Must possess or obtain basic CPR/First Aid certifications within 90 days of employment. When assigned to Therapeutic Recreation a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) certification is preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy. Additional Requirements Requires shift work to include some nights, weekends and holidays. May require some local travel.
