South Dakota State University's Department of Allied and Population Health is offering an exciting career opportunity for a Community Care Coordinator within the Community Practice Innovation Center (CPIC) with SD-START. We are looking for a up-and-coming leader with a passion for practice-based research, interests in pursuing a career in academia, research, or public health, and a desire to work on multiple funded projects within the field of population health. This position can be located in Brookings or Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

This position is funded through a grant through August 2028. Continuation of the appointment is dependent on the availability of grant funding.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and support community-based projects focused on substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and research initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, families, community members, organizations, and project partners through outreach, engagement, case management, and referral development.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate trainings, meetings, community events, focus groups, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Provide day-to-day project leadership, including team coordination, partner communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and oversight of project activities.
  • Collect, manage, interpret, and report project data; contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Support grant development, reporting, manuscript preparation, dissemination of findings, and presentations at community and professional events.
  • Participate in strategic planning, project implementation, purchasing and resource coordination, and other activities that advance project goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Health-related Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Social and Administrative Sciences, Public Health or a related filed completed by start date OR an earned Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2-3 years of relevant professional experience including healthcare experience, community health worker, social worker or community development completed by start date;
  • At least one year of relevant research experience working on research projects or grants in the capacity of student researcher, research coordinator, project manager, or other related work. Master training related to research will count towards this experience.
  • Experience with scientific writing on grants, project status reports, manuscripts, or other research-related documents;
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and trainings;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing team member;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn job specific software systems; and
  • Valid drivers license or ability to obtain on within 30 days of hire and willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Relevant research experience of 2 years or more working on research projects or grants in the capacity of student researcher, research coordinator, project manager or other related work;
  • At least 2 years of experience doing community outreach and/or community education;
  • Experience with collecting data from people/patients for tracking or informational purposes (may include research purposes);
  • Experience writing grants and project status reports;
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting;
  • Experience with data analysis (quantitative or qualitative);
  • Experience with statistical software; and
  • Experience teaching a Masters level or higher course.
