    The Community Assistant position is instrumental in enhancing the on-campus living experience through their abilities to foster relationships with peers, build a sense of community, and provide opportunities for residents to learn and grow. Through a variety of experiences, Community Assistants will develop skills that will shape their future career aspirations including refinement of their approach to leadership and discovering methods that create a sense of belonging.
    Classification Title:

    STU AST CLERICAL & ADMIN

    Classification Minimum Requirements:
    • Be enrolled as a full-time student in good standing as defined by the University at the time of 
      employment which includes a successful conduct/honor code review. Maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA the semester prior to employment and be available for 20-hours per week. 
    • This position is open to all students and requires them to live on campus as a resident in the Village they serve.
    Job Description:

    The Community Assistant within Housing and Residence Life team is responsible for:

    • Enhancing and maintain a sense of shared community in the designated residential area by facilitating intentional interactions, social activities, and other opportunities for residents and their families to interact with each other 
    • Assisting residents in the assigned residential area acting as a referral agent to available resources, services, and facilities on campus 
    • Planning and implement social, educational and recreational programs collaborating with university partners as needed 
    • Serving as the first point of contact for current or prospective residents, families, and community members providing information on campus resources and resolving questions or concerns  
    • Assisting in conflict resolution among residents by educating residents about housing policies and the conduct process 
    • Fostering a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures 
    • Serve as a model of responsible behavior to assist residents throughout their UF student experience  
    • Creating a residential environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages residents to utilize departmental and campus resources 

     

    Expected Salary:

    $11,100.00 stipend for a 12-month appointment

    Required Qualifications:
    • This position is required to live on campus as a resident in the Village they serve
    • Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing as defined by the University at the time of

    • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA the semester prior to employment
    • Be available for 20-hours per week
    Preferred:
    • Individuals committed to facilitating interaction among students, faculty, and staff representative of UF’s vibrant community 
    • Successful candidates will have a minimum one semester experience at the University of Florida in Gainesville 
    • Demonstrated experience with customer service 
    • Ability to critically analyze situations and actively problem solve 
    • Ability to work well within a team and with individuals to build positive relationships 
    • Demonstrated dependability, attention to detail, timeliness, and professionalism 
    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written communication)
