Primary Purpose


Responsible for developing internal communications and though leadership plans and strategies as they apply on a corporate, business unit and BSC-wide level. Represents Director or Manager, Employee Communications in their absence. Supports corporate, executive and BSC communications, and overall internal communication as it applies to external audiences. Translates complex enterprise and operating company priorities into concise, complexing executive messages that inspire action and reinforce accountability. Supports and reinforces Exelon's corporate communications messages and provides communications guidance and support to all business units. Partners closely with senior executives and operating company leadership to shape and articulate clear leadership narratives aligned to Exelon's purpose, strategic priorities, and business strategy. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Employee Communications and VP, Corporate Communications, in support of other internal communications and executive though leadership priorities. This position reports to the Director, Employee Communications.


Primary Duties


+ Ensure effective communication of corporate messages and content on a company-wide basis to employees and key stakeholders. (25%)

+ Direct interface with business unit communications managers to ensure consistency of messaging. (25%)

+ Develop and coordinate thought leadership plans in support of senior leadership and strategies to support business plans and objectives, as well as Exelon corporate objectives. (15%)

+ Produce accurate, compelling, and editorially proficient written communications. (10%)

+ Manage a variety of communication tasks to support leadership, including talking points, short presentations, and online messages. (10%)

+ Consult and advise HR lead and staff on strategies for communicating HR policies, programs, and benefits. (10%)

+ Manage vendor/agency relationships in the development of collateral, and the execution of projects. (5%)


Job Scope


+ Position reports directly to the Director of Employee Communications.

+ Position activities are focused on internal communications and thought leadership, while participating in and supporting initiatives and projects developed by communications managers across all business units

+ Involves proactive communication planning and plan execution, significant writing, editing and development of communications materials, and a high level of coordination with other communication functions within Corporate Communications.

+ Requires strong writing, editing and project management skills.

+ High level of organization, strategic thinking, and presentation required

+ Required travel.

+ Operates independently with little or no supervision.


Minimum Qualifications


+ Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, or related field

+ 7-10 years of relevant experience; 4-7 years' experience in internal communications and publications.

+ Proven, excellent communications skills; both written and interpersonal.

+ Demonstrated strategic thinking and project management skills.

+ In lieu of degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

+ Energy business/industry knowledge.

+ Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $104,000.00/Yr. – $143,000.00/Yr.
