The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) advances the health and welfare of patients by certifying qualified foot and ankle surgeons and ensuring excellence in surgical care. As Communications and Marketing Manager, you will help ABFAS engage residents, Diplomates and candidates, and hospital leadership through audience-focused communications that help stakeholders understand certification requirements, the rigor of the process, and the role of ABFAS Board Certification in safeguarding public health.
Reporting to the Chief Certification Officer, you will work closely with an external communications consultant to operationalize a communications strategy designed to build on ABFAS’s longstanding credibility. This is a hands-on role focused on managing website content, newsletters, social media, and presentations; coordinating cross-office content and internal and external communications; and managing external vendors that support communications deliverables. You will help ensure that channels, including email, newsletters, text messaging, social media, print and digital advertising, and the website, are used in more targeted ways tailored to each stakeholder group.
Early priorities include supporting a campaign to increase the visibility of ABFAS Board Certification as the standard of excellence in podiatric surgery, and messaging and outreach for a new ambassador program. You will also support the Communications Committee by coordinating meetings and materials, partnering with leadership on agendas and discussion topics, and bringing forward recommendations and questions that support continuous improvement of ABFAS communications efforts.
This role offers the opportunity to own a broad range of communications work while collaborating with ABFAS leadership, a strategic communications consultant, and highly respected surgeon volunteers on initiatives with visibility across both the organization and the podiatric surgery profession.
