Auburn University Libraries is seeking applicants for the position of Student Assistant to support communications and outreach efforts for AlabamaMosaic and other digital scholarship projects. AlabamaMosaic is a single-site search index that provides access to digital archives collections from institutions across Alabama.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in digital humanities, an interdisciplinary field that combines humanities research and sources with computing skills, technologies, and methods. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a portfolio of professional and public-facing writing while gaining practical experience in communications for a statewide digital scholarship initiative.
The selected student may work up to 10 hours per week, depending on operational needs. Work hours are scheduled between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:This student will help with outreach for the AlabamaMosaic Project and other digital scholarship projects/initiatives by:
• Creating social media posts to engage project partners and site users
• Producing content for a quarterly newsletter to regularly connect AlabamaMosaic partners with the project
• Assisting with the development of search training for the AlabamaMosaic index and updating text on the site for clarity
• Assisting with web design tasks for AlabamaMosaic and other digital projects at AU Libraries
• Other duties as assigned
