RLE International has an immediate position for a commodity benchmarking analyst who will be located on-site in Allen Park, MI full-time

Job Description:

This position supports the Global Total Cost (GTC) Benchmarking activities, specifically focusing on Commodity Benchmarking studies. The main objective of Commodity Benchmarking is to evaluate and compare part designs, features and technologies of internal benchmarks along with other OEMs within and outside of the automotive industry. It also helps to identify opportunities for complexity reduction between Ford products and within a vehicle series. Commodity Benchmarking is a proven process enabling teams to identify best practices, maintain a competitive edge and reduce part costs of existing designs to make our customer more profitable and competitive in the marketplace. It is also an enabler to assist forward model programs in the development and achievement of program cost targets. As a Commodity Benchmarking Analyst, you will play a key role in helping to document benchmarking studies to ensure key data and conclusions are captured and pulled together in a cohesive and logical format. You will also be exposed to exciting new products and technology and will be joining an agile team of doers making a difference by working collaboratively and delivering excellence day in and day out.

Responsibilities:

Document Commodity Benchmarking activities and studies ensuring key data is collected and analyzed enabling the identification of key takeaways and findings. This will involve working closely with both local and regional commodity benchmarking team members. Responsibilities will include:

o Working with commodity benchmarking leads to identify key study information such as scope, objectives, timing and other relevant information

o Working with commodity benchmarking leads to gather available study data (i.e. photographs, specifications, cost estimating comparisons, attribute data) and opportunities (i.e. list of cost reduction ideas generated during study.)

o Assisting in data attribute collection and documentation as required determined by the commodity benchmarking leads.

  • Performing analysis of data to assist in identifying key take-aways, observations and findings.
  • Documenting benchmarking studies in a professional and timely manner using the Commodity Benchmarking Report Out template provided.
  • Manage and coordinate the overall Report Out development process and timing plans.
  • Keep the Commodity Benchmarking tracking matrix updated as Report Out documents are completed.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to the Report Out Summary content and template, and recommend process efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with developing and improving data collection templates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Engineering degree preferred
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Engineering or benchmarking experience
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Automotive part/commodity knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of accountability and attention to detail
  • Good Microsoft skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Office, Teams)
