Job Description Solar Field Commissioning Manager
Work on one of the world s largest utility-scale solar PV developers, for the client as their Commissioning Manager. The primary roles are to oversee subcontractors and OEMs delivery, installation, quality, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of solar PV power systems. To act as the Owner s representative to oversee aspects of the solar facility including site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close out (note the Owner will contract a turnkey EPC; this role will oversee the EPC and OEMs on the Owner's behalf). Employees in this role manage and report on construction turnover, pre-energization, commissioning, and performance testing work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.
Location:
US Travel and stay at project locations for duration of Cx. Travel up to 75%. Other work is remote in supporting teams in remote SCADA monitoring and Commissioning portfolio management.

Senior Project Manager
Preferred Background:
Engineering or professional electrical career in utility-scale solar PV commissioning with experience on multiple large projects (e.g., 50MW+). Strong knowledge of PV inverter systems, MV collection systems, substation interfaces, and SCADA/plant controls is preferred.
Required Skill Sets:
  • Utility-scale solar PV installation and startup (PV modules, DC collection, combiner boxes, and inverters)
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the technical performance and integration of PV inverters, DC collection, MV collection, and plant controls/SCADA
  • Commissioning process creation
  • Substation testing and startup
  • Protection and Controls implementation and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of solar PV balance-of-plant components (combiner boxes, DC feeders, inverter stations, step-up transformers, MV collection, plant controller, and SCADA)
  • Capable of quality control inspections and punch-list management
  • Thorough understanding of DC systems (0-2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V-34.5kV)
  • Familiarity to troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, plant controllers, revenue meters, etc.).
  • Experience with plant control and SCADA systems (inverter communications, PPC/plant controller, and data historian) and troubleshooting

Job Responsibilities:
  • Participates in safety program and audits
  • Performs detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications and drawings and maintain detailed punch-list
  • Performs system walkdowns for mechanical complete prior to turnover or energization
  • Creation of and management of energization plans
  • Oversee the EPC and OEM commissioning procedures, status, and compliance
  • Assist in troubleshooting commissioning anomalies as the primary SME owner s representative
  • Preparation and review of project close out and testing documents
  • Reporting daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, indicators, and recovery plans to upper management
  • Interfaces with project's designated management committees or third parties, and acts as lead Company representative of project activities

  • Review all Purchase Power Agreement and Interconnect Agreements to develop guidelines for performance testing
  • Interface with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel to obtain alignment on testing requirements
  • Develop a complete testing plan for assigned projects to ensure all deliverables across all relevant contractual documentation is met.
  • Schedule and lead alignment meetings leading up to, and during performance testing periods, to ensure all required support parties are aligned and the test is executed in an organized manner.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Overall responsibility for test administration, data analysis and final reporting.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring and/or tape.
  • Prolonged periods of standing with intermittent kneeling or bending.
  • Must be physically capable of walking on the jobsite on varied, uneven terrain and/or varied temperatures and weather elements.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle for purposes of commuting between 2 working locations.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds at a time.
