Job Title: Commissioning Manager


Location: Berkshire (On-site)

Role Overview


An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a major nuclear defence infrastructure project in Berkshire. This role involves overseeing the commissioning of complex facilities, including specialist equipment, building services, and control systems.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of commissioning activities across the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities


  • Provide guidance on safety requirements for all commissioning activities

  • Manage, oversee, and deliver commissioning work packages within a complex infrastructure environment

  • Ensure compliance with nuclear commissioning procedures and relevant regulatory licence conditions

  • Support the development and implementation of the overall commissioning strategy

  • Manage the production, review, and approval of test documentation from suppliers

  • Plan and coordinate commissioning tests with suppliers and stakeholders

  • Integrate commissioning requirements and prerequisites into the project programme

  • Contribute to the development of construction schedules to enable phased commissioning activities

  • Monitor and report on the status of commissioning prerequisites and progress

  • Witness and oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

  • Manage and resolve test failures, including capturing and sharing lessons learned

  • Ensure coordination between supplier commissioning activities and wider project delivery

  • Lead the implementation of stakeholder engagement plans for commissioning

  • Ensure consistent application of safe systems of work during testing and commissioning

  • Provide regular progress updates and reporting to stakeholders

  • Manage changes to commissioning schedules, resources, and forecasts

  • Chair commissioning-related meetings, including:

    • Design reviews

    • Change reviews

    • Procedure reviews

Candidate Requirements

Experience


  • Extensive experience commissioning large-scale facilities or infrastructure projects

  • Proven track record delivering within complex, highly regulated environments (defence or similar sectors preferred)

  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies and processes

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and supplier interfaces

Technical & Other Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, Security Clearance (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV)
