Position Summary:

The Commercial Outside Salesperson is responsible for driving sales growth by developing and maintaining relationships with commercial contractors, developers, and construction professionals. This role involves identifying project opportunities, estimating material needs, and providing product expertise to support our clients throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business and manage existing accounts within a defined territory or market.
  • Identify and pursue project opportunities through industry networks, bid platforms, and direct outreach.
  • Collaborate with internal estimating, purchasing, and logistics teams to deliver accurate and timely quotes and proposals.
  • Represent a wide range of building materials including commercial doors and hardware, trusses, windows, millwork, framing packages, and specialty products.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitive activity, and product knowledge to provide value-added insight to customers.
  • Attend job site meetings, construction walkthroughs, and industry events as needed.
  • Maintain CRM records, sales reports, and account documentation.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and annual sales goals set by management.

Qualifications:

  • Proven success in outside sales, preferably in commercial construction or building materials.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, material specifications, and project lifecycles.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM tools; experience with estimating software is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years in commercial building materials sales or related construction industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Division 6, 8 and 10 materials (doors, frames, hardware, specialties).
  • Familiarity with reading blueprints and construction documents.
