    A well-established, mid-Atlantic law firm is seeking a senior commercial litigation attorney at the Counsel or Junior Partner level to join its Northern Virginia or Maryland offices. This is a confidential search conducted on behalf of the firm.

    This is a lead-litigator role designed for an experienced attorney seeking meaningful responsibility and autonomy. The successful candidate will take over and run commercial litigation matters delegated by senior partners, serve as day-to-day lead counsel on cases, and supervise junior attorneys as needed. Senior partners remain available for high-level strategy, but this role requires someone comfortable fully owning files from inception through resolution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Independently manage commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution
    • Serve as day-to-day lead counsel, taking direction from senior partners on high-level strategy only
    • Take and defend depositions, argue motions, and handle trial work on a regular basis
    • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys as needed

    Requirements

    • Approximately 10–20+ years of commercial litigation experience
    • Demonstrated ability to run cases independently with substantial first-chair experience
    • Active Virginia bar admission required; DC and/or Maryland admission a plus
    • A small portable book of business (approximately $200K+)
