SUMMARY

The Fuel Supply Manager has multiple responsibilities within the Commercial Division. First the Supply Manager has responsibilities for identifying new growth markets as well as suppliers in both existing/new markets to support Commercial sales. The Fuel Supply Manager is required to analyze and determine the most advantageous contract/rack pricing methodology for each market and negotiate with each supplier to obtain the identified pricing. On a varying timeline of monthly/quarterly/annually, the position requires reconciliation of purchases versus contractual obligations as well as pricing competitiveness analysis and adjust/change supply contracts as required. Second, the Fuel Supply Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic  accounts across multiple geographies resulting in maximum profitability and volume and securing new business with existing and new customers through inside and outside sales efforts and designated markets. The Fuel Supply Manager will have volume, margin and credit targets. This position will also support various internal divisions through research, business activity, systems support as well as special as required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY:  (bolded text denotes an essential function of the position)

 

Business Results Orientation

  Identify new growth markets and new suppliers to support Commercial sales

  Identify and secure appropriate contractual and rack fuel purchase options

  Monitor accounts payable and execute plan(s) to maximize company’s access to appropriate supplier and product base

  Utilize allocation system tools and PDI reporting for monitoring purchase volumes to meet contractual requirements

  Forecast and submit daily/weekly/monthly allocation requirements as needed

  Implement carrier setup with new customers or existing customers at new and/or existing supply terminals

  Manage accounts portfolio to optimize supply, allocations, profitability, volume and receivables

  Research and identify new geographic, terminal, product business opportunities for growth

  Identify and procure new Commercial customers with proper credit approval

  Monitor and enforce Wallis credit policies and customer limits

  Provide direction and insight to help Wallis achieve its goals and objectives

  Maintain regular attendance and follow designated safety practices

  Understand and drive achievement of Company Balanced Scorecard metrics and other key performance indicators

  Perform other duties not listed as required

 

Communication 

  Coordinate with unbranded suppliers and terminals to understand and sell their products and programs

  Provide timely communication of customer orders and supply sourcing to the Transport division as necessary

  Communicate with customers on a routine basis to meet needs and expectations via email and phone

  Prepares written, visual and verbal presentations as needed in a manner appropriate to communicate to the audience

  Work closely with CFO or assigned designee to ensure appropriate credit analysis, minimize supplier fuel security requirements, and manage hedging and storage risk

  Adjust content of sales/customer service discussions based on customer type and needs

  Ensure professional and effective communication, both written and verbal, with customer, suppliers, vendors, and co-workers

 

Customer Service Orientation

  Investigate and rectify all customer billing inquiries as appropriate

  Maintain relationships with clients providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; and recommending profit and service improvements

  Handle customer meetings/discussions in an ethical, professional and efficient manner

  Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential and existing customers

  Follow up with existing suppliers to ensure their programs are meeting our customer needs and take actions if programs are falling short

  Complete supplier and customer site visits as required

 

Developing Talent

  Train and coach internal employees on how to promote and generate new financial opportunities and business leads

  Identify both internal and external on-the-job training needs and share with supervisors. Attend training seminars and webinars to further expand career development

  Complete training as required to meet regulatory compliance and company guidelines

  Attend training to further develop both technical and soft skills

  Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies, etc.

  Promote team development, enthusiasm and pride

 

Technical Expertise

  Monitor competition by gathering current Marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery information, etc. found mainly from customers and supply vendors

  Provide technical assistance to accounts as needed

  Identify product improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors

  Develop and present supply, trading and individual market plans

  Ensure Wallis compliance with all related regulatory requirements related to fuel supply

  Analyze key information relative to fuel sourcing, supplier costs and pricing that provides the company intelligence to negotiate

  Develop optimum long-term supply management program for Wallis Companies

  Adhere to all Wallis Company safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct:  This position has no direct reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:                                High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business                                        or Related Field highly preferred 

                                               

Experience:                              3+ years of experience in the refined fuel business and supply management

 

Language Skills:                      Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is

sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients,

customers and the general public. Posses excellent verbal, written, and

presentation skills.
