Commercial Civil Construction Estimator

Location: N.W. Houston, TX

Pay rate: $100-125k (DOE)

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Civil Construction Estimator to join our team. The Commercial Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and supporting the bidding process for commercial construction and service projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring competitive and profitable project bids.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate cost estimates
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
  • Prepare and submit competitive proposals and bid packages
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and requirements
  • Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software
  • Track and analyze project costs versus estimates for continuous improvement
  • Assist in contract negotiations and scope reviews as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial estimating or civil construction cost estimating
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar)
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with sitework, paving, and underground utilities
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience with TXDot Projects.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in commercial pre-construction sitework
  • Experience with commercial underground utilities
  • Experience with TXDot paving projects
