Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Boiler Service Technician to join our service team in the Greater New York City area. This full-time role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and startup of large-scale commercial gas-fired boiler systems, including steam and hydronic applications. The ideal candidate will possess advanced hands-on experience with commercial boilers, burners, control systems, and electrical troubleshooting. This position requires strong diagnostic capabilities, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in commercial and industrial environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial gas-fired boiler systems, including steam and hydronic equipment

  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving burners, boiler controls, safety devices, and mechanical components

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, equipment startups, and system shutdowns

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, sequence of operations, and technical documentation

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits, relays, safeties, and interlocks

  • Conduct combustion analysis and system performance testing using diagnostic equipment

  • Work independently in boiler rooms at commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities

  • Document service activities, findings, and repair recommendations accurately and professionally

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations and codes

  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of commercial boiler service experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience servicing commercial gas-fired steam and hydronic boiler systems

  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex control and burner systems

  • Strong understanding of electrical theory as it relates to boiler and burner operation

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

  • Experience using multimeters, combustion analyzers, and other diagnostic equipment

  • Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems related to boiler operation

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills

  • Valid driver's license with willingness to travel throughout the Greater NYC area

  • OSHA training and manufacturer certifications preferred

  • Experience in hospitals, universities, commercial buildings, central plants, industrial facilities, or large residential complexes preferred

  • Experience with power burners and combustion analysis preferred

  • Commercial gas-fired steam and hydronic boiler systems

  • Weil-McLain EGH, LGB, and Series 88 boilers with Power Flame burners

  • H.B. Smith Series 19 and 28 boilers with Power Flame and Beckett burners

  • Laars FT Wall-Hung, MagnaTherm, NeoTherm, Pennant, and Mighty Therm systems

  • Lochinvar Knight, Armor, and CWN systems

  • Riello Array systems

  • Commercial gas water heaters including A.O. Smith, Bradford White, and Rheem/Rudd

Controls & Component Experience

  • Aquastats and temperature controls

  • Pressuretrols and steam pressure controls

  • Circulator pumps and pump controls

  • Zone valves and isolation valves

  • Expansion tanks for hydronic and steam systems

  • Water feeders and low-water cutoffs, including float-type and electronic systems

  • Relief valves and safety valves

  • Backflow preventers and fill valves
