Position Summary
Hours Per Week: Up to 19.5 hours per week
Department: Student Services
Location: West Campus
The part-time College Success Coach performs a variety of coaching and advisory services. Assists students with decision-making processes relating to academic, personal, and professional goal achievement. Serves as a student advocate and collaborates with college stakeholders to remove barriers, increase options, and support individual student success.
The work schedule for this position may include working evenings and weekends.
Rate of pay is determined by level of knowledge, skill, and abilities.
About Temporary Employment:
This position has 1 vacant position and will establish a qualified applicant pool for part-time temporary positions. Applications will remain active for 6 months to a year and selected candidates may be contacted as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise. Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. The applicant pool will be refreshed annually.
Temporary applicants may be hired for specific assignments or placed in an applicant pool for future opportunities, depending on enrollment levels and business needs. If selected from this pool of applicants, candidates contacted will receive details regarding the specific assignment and will have the opportunity to confirm interest and availability.
We are seeking dedicated part-time temporary employees to join our qualified applicant pool. Selected candidates will be considered for placement as positions become available or when immediate staffing needs arise.
Part-time temporary roles offer flexible scheduling and the opportunity to support a diverse population of students in achieving their educational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
Using a strategic and consultative coaching approach, asks high-impact questions to understand the student's top performance challenge (academic or personal), identify its root cause, co-create solutions, and implement a custom action plan designed to improve performance and help students reach their short-term/long-term academic, personal, and professional goals
Monitors student academic progress; analyzes confidential student information; identifies issues and discrepancies and formulates recommendations for the appropriate action based on findings. Researches and recommends resolutions for technically difficult and complex student issues and concerns
Builds rapport and trust with students to create a connection and develop supportive relationships that inspire students' belief in themselves and a sense of belonging at PCC
Assists students with general information and acts as a student liaison to the college by helping students to navigate PCC's landscape, understand PCC's policies and procedures and connect to faculty, their success network, support services, and college and community resources
Prepares, develops, and presents information relevant to academic coaching practices and student success in the form of instructional materials, classroom presentations, workshops, and/or activities
Collaborates with team members, faculty, student affairs, learning support and other various departments to create, modify and support student success efforts
Actively participates in professional learning opportunities and stays current on the latest thinking and trends in the areas of equity and inclusion, academic coaching, academic success skills, learning support, and student success
Performs all other duties and responsibilities assigned or directed by the supervisor
Job Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field of study
One (1) to Three (3) years' experience working directly with students in an educational setting or related experience
OR
Preferred:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of advising and counseling practices as well as college policies and procedures
Knowledge of internal and external customer service principles and practices
Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services
Knowledge and application of various instructional methodologies
Skill in analyzing data and drawing conclusions
Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
Skill in organization, coordination, and management
Skill in public speaking
Ability to develop and maintain effective and positive working relationships
