The Department of Biology/College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks candidates for a full-time temporary Assistant Professor (Teaching Faculty) position in Biology. This position is a one-year, 9-month faculty position with potential for renewal for one additional year based on performance.

The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to work with a highly interactive team to teach introductory biology courses for majors and additional core courses (eg. Genetics, microbiology, physiology, etc.).

Required Qualifications

(1) Ph.D. in biology or related discipline

(2) Laboratory- and/or field-based research experience

(3) Track record of teaching excellence

(4) Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Experience in teaching undergraduate biology

(2) Experience in developing instructional laboratory curricula

(3) Experience in course development

(4) Experience in online course development and teaching

(5) Experience teaching to large enrollment classes of science majors
