The College and Career Readiness Program Lead provides instructional leadership and programmatic support for offerings within the College and Career Readiness Department. The College and Career Readiness Department includes Adult High School (AHS), High School Equivalency (HSE), English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult Basic Education (ABE), and Prison programs.

This position serves as a key resource for curriculum development, instructional consistency, and faculty support, with a primary focus on the coordination and continuous improvement of the distance learning program offered to English language learners. The College and Career Readiness Program Lead primarily supports evening ESL and HSE in Spanish programming and will maintain a schedule aligned with evening classes and student services, particularly for distance learning instruction.

The College and Career Readiness Program Lead collaborates closely with Career Pathways Coordinators and departmental leadership to support high-quality instruction, effective distance learning processes, and positive student outcomes, while maintaining a limited teaching role within the ESL program.

This position primarily supports programs offered in the evening. The work schedule will include regular evening hours to align with student services, virtual programming, and instructional needs. Some daytime hours may be required for meetings, planning, and collaboration, including assisting faculty and students with technology related to distance learning.

This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. This position requires face to face teaching.

Essential Duties

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Embrace the institutional goals of Central Carolina Community College by engaging students as full partners in the learning process, removing barriers to student progression in courses, and supporting and assisting students in achieving their educational and career goals.
  • Maintain an instructional load of up to 12 hours per semester, primarily in a distance learning format.
  • Design and deliver instruction aligned with program standards, student learning outcomes, and adult education best practices.
  • Report attendance daily.
  • Actively support the colleges vision of being the college of choice for students, workforce partners, community leaders, and employees.

Lead Distance Learning Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary lead for the distance learning program, in collaboration with Career Pathways Coordinators and department leadership.
  • Coordinate and support distance learning processes, including virtual intake, student onboarding, and remote testing and assessment procedures.
  • Review, refine, and document distance learning procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Serve as a point of contact for instructors teaching distance learning courses regarding instructional expectations, tools, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve student access, retention, engagement, and success in distance learning classes.
  • Assist with recruitment efforts.
  • Assist with the development, revision, and alignment of ESL curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education and Curriculum faculty to support Integrated Education and Training (IET) initiatives.
  • Model effective distance learning instructional strategies and learning technologies for part-time faculty.
  • Assist with general responsibilities related to adjunct recruitment, hiring, and training.
  • Facilitate or coordinate professional development opportunities related to distance learning.

Institutional Responsibilities

  • Participate in activities required to maintain program and/or college accreditation standards.
  • Serve on college committees as appointed.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies.
  • Complete required professional development each year and continually improve role-related skills.
  • Maintain current knowledge of your discipline and renew industry credentials, as needed.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and collegewide meetings.

Minimum Requirements

  • A Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language OR A Masters Degree in Instructional Technology or related field.
  • 1-2 years English Language Learner (ELL) teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching synchronous online courses.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience supporting curriculum development or instructional alignment.
  • Experience working within Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title II funded programs.
