The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support Better Together Nacogdoches by strengthening and expanding its hunger-focused coalition. The member will conduct community asset mapping and needs assessments, recruit and engage cross-sector partners (nonprofits, schools, faith groups, healthcare, and local government), and facilitate regular coalition meetings. They will help establish shared goals, governance structures, and data-tracking systems aligned with evidence-based practices. The VISTA will also develop outreach materials, coordinate training, and support grant writing and resource development to sustain coalition efforts. Ultimately, the member will build the coalition's capacity to implement coordinated strategies that reduce food insecurity and improve access to nutritious food in Nacogdoches.
