Step into a day running high‑precision sheet metal

You arrive, pull the next work order, and load the correct material. Programs are retrieved, tooling is staged, and the turret is set for the first run. You bring the machine online, verify the hit pattern against the blueprint, tweak G-code when needed, and let the automation handle material loading while you monitor cut quality. Short prototype this hour, longer production the next—you pivot quickly, inspect with calipers, record counts, and keep the line moving. Between jobs, you clean down the area, perform basic PM, and collaborate with maintenance if a hiccup arises. End of shift, you shut down safely with a spotless workstation and solid throughput.

How you’ll contribute

  • Set up and operate a CNC turret punch press to produce sheet metal components efficiently.
  • Retrieve programs, install and maintain turret tooling, and configure workholding for each run.
  • Start up and shut down equipment following standard procedures and safety rules.
  • Hit throughput goals—maximize quality parts in minimal time without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Handle multiple changeovers per shift for both short prototypes and extended production.
  • Inspect parts to print using precision tools (e.g., calipers) and verify against blueprints, sketches, or customer samples.
  • Leverage material loading automation and make on-the-fly edits to G-code when required.
  • Read material tags and work orders to select correct materials, then separate good parts from scrap.
  • Track and record daily production counts accurately.
  • Move raw stock and finished parts via pallet jack or forklift.
  • Continuously watch machine performance and adjust parameters to optimize cutting efficiency.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and keep machines/work areas clean.
  • Partner with maintenance/repair technicians to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and fellow operators to keep jobs flowing in a fast-paced environment.

What it takes

  • Hands-on experience in a sheet metal job shop/contract manufacturing environment (required).
  • Strong knowledge of turret punch press tooling—changeout, upkeep, and best practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints and rough sketches; comfortable producing prototypes from customer samples.
  • Competence editing G-code and understanding CNC workflows.
  • Solid decision-making and reliability with excellent attendance.
  • Comfort working in hot or cold plant conditions and a fast tempo.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat, reach, and perform repetitive hand/finger motions.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs throughout the shift.
  • Strict adherence to all safety procedures and housekeeping standards.

Equipment you’ll run

  • Amada EM3612ZRT 33‑Ton Turret Punch Press with High Capacity Tool Rack and Automatic Tool Changer
  • Amada Vipros VPZ3510 PDC Turret Punch Press
