Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled individual to join our team in Blaine, MN, as a CNC Swiss Machinist for the 2nd/3rd or Weekend shift. This role involves being the subject matter expert (SME) for the Swiss Machining team. The successful candidate will perform set-ups, operate, troubleshoot, and verify the quality of work in the CNC Swiss Machining area, ensuring routine or repetitive operations meet production standards and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC Swiss machines (Citizen L12 and L20).
- Command, retrieve, input, edit CNC programs, detect errors, and adjust as needed.
- Adjust tools and replace them as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with written manufacturing procedures, company policies, and quality regulations.
- Read and understand layouts, job travelers, and blueprints.
- Have a good understanding of tooling and tooling applications.
- Understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Follow set-up procedures and recommend improvements.
- Troubleshoot complex machining job problems without supervision.
- Assist operators in machining parts to specification, perform measurements and visual checks, and examine results using precision instruments.
- Assist in process development with engineers, technicians, and supervisors.
- Perform pre-production and program validation related to changes in new products and tooling.
- Recognize and recommend alternatives for problem and/or unsafe processes.
- Train new and existing operators in proper manufacturing and quality procedures.
- Ensure preventative maintenance duties are completed and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a high standard of conduct and job performance.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or Equivalent; degree or certificate in Machine Tool Technology.
- 2-4 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Familiarity with operating Citizen L12 and/or L20.
- Self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt quickly and positively to changing priorities and processes.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience and/or training in a production setting and comparable manufacturing preferred.
- Proven understanding of tooling requirements to set up and operate CNC Swiss machines, including pre-setting of tools.
- Ability to read and edit programs.
- Familiarity with ISO Quality System, particularly in medical device manufacturing.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
- Strong math background, preferably in machine math/shop math.
