CNC Setup Optimization Specialist & Multi-Axis Machinist

$27.00 - $40.00/hr • Green Bay Area • Early-Out Fridays • Direct-Hire

EXPERIENCE DEPTH: 3+ years of independent CNC machine setup, tool path optimization, and controller-level G-code editing experience.

MACHINERY DEPTH: Expert-level operation and troubleshooting of Horizontal & Vertical Machining Centers (HMC/VMC) and multi-axis turning systems.
EQUIPMENT MATRICES: Direct familiarity setting up high-spec CNC machinery fleets (such as Mori Seiki, Doosan, or Fanuc-controlled systems).
WORK SCHEDULE: 1st Shift | Mon–Thu (6:00 AM – 3:30 PM) & Fridays (6:00 AM – 10:00 AM) for a built-in early weekend jumpstart.
EARNING POTENTIAL: $27.00 to $40.00 per hour baseline starting rate + premium overtime multipliers + unique 5-Year Deferred Loyalty Bonus.
LOCATION: Thriving manufacturing hub just outside Green Bay, WI (100% climate-controlled shop environment). COMPLIANCE: United States Citizens or Green Card holders only; ITAR compliance regulations apply to all defense projects.

This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing, high-precision aerospace and defense manufacturer operating a clean, state-of-the-art facility. Utilizing lights-out automation, progressive tooling, and a modern machine fleet with an average equipment age under 3.5 years, this site represents the cutting edge of Northeast Wisconsin manufacturing.

This technical role is designed for a skilled professional who thrives on variety, true shop floor autonomy, and advanced technology. Rather than running mindless, high-volume repetition, you will own complex machine setups from start to finish, troubleshoot challenging part geometries, and collaborate directly with design engineers. The organization treats its machinists like true professionals, protecting your work-life balance with unique scheduling and directly investing in your long-term success through a structured loyalty bonus. It is the ideal setup for a reliable leader looking to secure a career home within a premier, expanding shop.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Precision Machine Setup: Performing complex, independent setups, fixture alignments, and from-scratch adjustments on CNC vertical/horizontal mills and multi-axis lathes.
  • G-Code Optimization: Interpreting intricate aerospace drawings and technical prints to program machine paths, modify macro variables, and edit G-code directly at the controller.
  • Quality Metrology Verification: Conducting rigorous first-article inspections using micrometers, digital calipers, bore gauges, and optical comparators to ensure high-tolerance compliance.
  • Cell Throughput Optimization: Optimizing part processing across multiple active machine cells to maximize operational workflow efficiency and minimize cycle times.
  • Shop Floor Mentoring: Mentoring, training, and troubleshooting technical setups for junior production operators to ensure repeatable part quality and team skill development.
  • Lean Engineering Collaboration: Collaborating with design engineers and shop leadership to implement lean manufacturing practices, tool path optimizations, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews.

What We Are Looking For

  • High-Tolerance Manufacturing Pedigree: A proven track record of success working in a precision manufacturing environment subject to strict quality oversight (aerospace, medical device, or defense manufacturing preferred).
  • Advanced Tooling Literacy: Strong technical background in material speeds/feeds, tool wear analysis, specialized inserts selection, and rigid workholding applications.
  • Diagnostic Instincts: Sharp critical thinking skills to quickly isolate surface finish issues, tool deflection, or machine alignment errors on the fly.
  • Employment Reliability: A rock-solid, stable work history demonstrating long-term career commitment and technical growth with previous employers; frequent job-hopping is a disqualifier.
