As a CNC Setup and Process Optimization Technician, you will configure and dial-in CNC lathes, machining centers, and precision grinding equipment to deliver tight-tolerance components for aerospace, defense, medical, dental, and advanced technology applications.

What a typical day looks like

  • Arrive to a clean, regulated manufacturing environment with multiple shift options.
  • Review engineering drawings and specs for the day’s runs.
  • Load programs, select tooling, set offsets, and establish speeds/feeds and tool compensation.
  • Run a first-off part and verify using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Fine-tune parameters, troubleshoot tooling or process issues, and stabilize cycle times.
  • Hand off optimized processes to Machine Operators and provide on-the-spot technical guidance.
  • Document adjustments to ensure repeatability and quality compliance for aerospace and medical standards.

Core responsibilities

  • Set up and adjust CNC lathes, machining centers, and precision grinding machines.
  • Load and verify programs, tooling, and offsets to meet exact specifications.
  • Configure speeds, feeds, and tool wear/compensation.
  • Conduct first-article inspections with precision metrology tools.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support Operators with technical direction and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Ensure output conforms to stringent aerospace and medical quality requirements.

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience setting up CNC machining or grinding equipment.
  • Fluency with tooling selection, offsets, machine adjustments, and process optimization.
  • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specs.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
