CNC Precision Machining Specialist

Day-in-the-life: Own your second shift in precision machining

At 3:00 PM in Mocksville, NC, you step onto the production floor at 338 Valley Rd. and scan your queue. You review prints, set up a CNC lathe for the first run, and check tools on the VMC you prepped the day before. You enter programs, dry-run, then cut metal. Throughout the evening, you monitor tool wear, catch out-of-tolerance conditions, and correct course—because holding 0.0002 in matters here. Between runs, you log part locations, update work orders, and route components to the next operation. You leave your area spotless and 5S-ready for the next day—because discipline and flow fuel quality.

Location & Shift

• Onsite | 338 Valley Rd., Mocksville, NC 27028
• 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

What you'll do

• Translate blueprints, sketches, and job sheets into precise setups, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Prepare and operate mills, lathes, grinders, machining centers, drill presses, and drill machines with the right tools, attachments, and materials.
• Retrieve, input, and edit CNC control information; set offsets and run programs.
• Run parts, watch for malfunctions or drift, and adjust controls/media to maintain spec.
• Measure using micrometers, calipers, bore/depth/height gages, and other metrology tools; rework parts that miss spec.
• Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and production teammates to solve machining issues.
• Follow ISO procedures and all safety requirements, including PPE and hoist inspections.
• Route finished parts per the routing sequence and keep digital/physical paperwork current (locations, work orders, production/status/quality records).
• Engage in regular team communication, maintain 0.0002 in print tolerances, uphold 5S, and contribute ideas for cell layout and process improvements.
• Participate in monthly department meetings and quarterly town halls.

Minimum requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of CNC machining experience

Core skills & physical capabilities

• Fluent in reading safety rules, operation/maintenance instructions, blueprints, memos, and procedures.
• Clear communication in one-on-one and small group settings with leaders, customers/clients, and peers.
• Comfortable with calculations from 0.0001 to 0.1 and converting between metric and U.S. units.
• Follows detailed written and verbal instructions; applies problem-solving (e.g., 5 Whys) to multi-variable issues.
• Physical: stand/walk up to 8 hours; lift 35 lbs solo and 70 lbs with help; push/pull up to 35 lbs; vision corrected to 20/35 or better.

Preferred qualifications

• Associate degree or machining-related certification
• Hands-on skill with depth/bore/height/feeler gages, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.

Proficiencies that will help you excel

• CNC tooling, setup, programming, changeovers, and machine repair/installation
• Industrial/manufacturing engineering fundamentals and equipment troubleshooting
• Precision measurement and hand metrology
• Manual machining and production run setups
• Mechanical assembly skills
• Blueprint reading and basic computer literacy
• Strong communication and prior manufacturing experience
• High School / GED (required)

Travel & work arrangement

Onsite in Mocksville, NC with no anticipated travel.
