A day in this role

You start the morning on-site at a customer facility, commissioning a precision optics CNC system. By lunch, you’re interpreting hydraulic, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic schematics to isolate a fault and get production back online. In the afternoon, you brief the Field Service Manager on upcoming schedules, close out Service Work Orders, and send manuals and documentation the customer requested. On travel days (about 80% of your time), you’re the expert customers count on; during office stretches (roughly 20%), you join coordination meetings, attend trade shows, and build your skills through training—including sessions in Wetzlar, Germany and Switzerland when requested.

What you will take on

  • Install, repair, and maintain precision optics CNC machinery.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, PLC, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Deliver technical support via on-site travel and by phone to resolve issues promptly.
  • Assist Customer Service and Shipping/Receiving in identifying parts.
  • Keep close contact with the Field Service Manager for schedule planning.
  • Prepare expense reports, customer trip and call reports, and Service Work Orders for every visit.
  • Provide manuals and technical documentation upon request.
  • Update and maintain the customer database.
  • Represent Satisloh at trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Participate in product/operations training in Wetzlar, Germany and Switzerland as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or 2–4 years related experience/training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience).
  • Hands-on background with multi‑axis CNC machinery.
  • Knowledge of the optics industry and fabrication methods (a plus).
  • Familiarity with Windows SIGHT and Microsoft Access.
