Role Summary
Our Barnes Aerospace, CT-South CRO Site located in East Granby, Connecticut, is seeking a CNC Machinist & Trainer to join our team for a 6+ month project. This position requires a skilled machinist who can balance hands-on production responsibilities with the training and onboarding of new machinists. The successful candidate will provide guidance, demonstrate best practices, and support skill development while continuing to meet individual production and quality expectations.
Shift: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd
Key Responsibilities
Operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC milling and/or turning machines
Run multiple machines simultaneously, as most equipment is part of manufacturing cells or machining centers
Machine hard metals such as Inconel, titanium, and stainless steel
Load parts and fixtures using hoists and safely position workpieces in machines
Make program-required offsets and adjustments using Fanuc controls
Read and interpret CNC programs at the machine
Set up tools using tool sheets and ensure proper configuration
Inspect parts using precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications
Train, mentor, and support new and less experienced machinists, including:
Demonstrating proper machine setup, operation, and best practices
Reinforcing safety, quality standards, and standard work procedures
Providing hands-on guidance and real-time feedback during onboarding and daily production
Balance individual production responsibilities with training duties to maintain productivity while supporting team development
Serve as a resource on the floor for troubleshooting, process questions, and continuous improvement initiatives
