Job Description:
Setup and operate and maintain the CNC work center. The role also will use precision instruments to check parts to verify they are within specific tolerances.
Job Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Blossom Machine Production planning, build package instruction, AS-9100 Policy & Procedures, job description, and employee handbook.
- Promote a safe work environment by keeping work area neat and free from fluid spills, chips, trash, or unsecured extension cords and air hoses.
- Ensure that tool spindles, tool holders, cutting tools and tooling fixtures are 100% free from any foreign objects (burrs, chips, etc.)
- Properly indicate fixtures, establish tool length offsets (TLO's), tool loading and location of X-Y-Z zeroes per approved set-up sheets and tool lists.
- Verification and loading of Q.A. approved CNC programs received from the Shop Foreman into machine control or host computer.
- Correctly load parts on fixtures and ensure parts and fixtures are free from foreign objects (burrs, chips, etc.).
- Monitor feed rates, spindle speeds, and tool wear to ensure quality surface finish.
- Understand and interpret parts drawings visual aids, and scrap history.
- Collect Inspection data and record key characteristics measured on Operator Check Sheets to reduce process variation.
- Verify part number, dash number, lot number, drawing revisions, and special manufacturing instructions from build package documents, job traveler production note requirements and report any differences.
- Verify material type, lot number, grain direction, production cut size, and quantities per the Job Traveler.
- Receive, verify & return tooling fixtures and cutters per approved set-up sheets and tool lists.
- Monitoring coolant concentrations with refractometer to ensure tool life and reduce heat build-up in parts.
- Post accurate time worked to the correct job and operation sequence of the job traveler in the Vista data collection system.
- Perform periodic preventative maintenance (PM) as scheduled.
- Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6am to 4:30pm and Friday from 6 to 11:30am. Hours may change at times to accommodate business needs.
Education, Skills & Experience:
- 2 to 3 years' experience preferred, but not required
- Aerospace industry experience is a plus
- Sound knowledge/understanding of speeds and feeds
- Proven ability to understand/read blueprints/drawings
- Proven ability to trouble-shoot problems on the floor
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic math skills
- Ability to use of various inspection gauges
- Ability to communicate effectively

Work Environment
The plant is a machining environment; therefore, you may be required to wear respiratory protection due to air borne particles, chemicals & solvents depending on position.
Safety glasses are required at all times in production areas. OSHA regulations are followed.
