CNC Laser Cutting Technician

A day in the life
At 1:30 PM, you step onto the floor for second shift (Monday–Friday, 1:30 PM–10:00 PM). You review blueprints and shop drawings, plan your sequence, and set up the CNC laser to tackle the evening’s production runs. You run parts, inspect in-process features, and verify tolerances. You keep the line moving—loading material with an overhead hoist or crane, adjusting parameters for clean edges, and performing routine maintenance like cleaning, sharpening, and swapping wear items. You wrap the shift with final inspections and a spotless, safe work area.
Core responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to plan builds and cutting paths.
- Operate CNC laser equipment to cut parts to precise specifications.
- Execute quality checks and final inspections to confirm all requirements are met.
- Perform routine machine care: cleaning, sharpening, and replacing worn components.
- Use an overhead hoist or crane to stage and move materials safely.
- Maintain an orderly, safe, and compliant work environment.
What you bring
- Safety-first mindset; strict adherence to safety policies at all times.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment; overall 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- High School Diploma.
- Dependable, goal-oriented, and accountable to production targets.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort with basic shop math, calculations, and precision measurement tools.
- Strong time management, self-leadership, and organizational discipline.
- Tech-friendly: able to use tablets, smartphones, cameras, and Windows PCs.
