Job Title: CNC Cutter Grinder – Rollomatic (Medical Device Manufacturing)
Work Location: Berlin, CT
Position Type: Fulltime Permanent Role
Summary:
This position involves setting up and operating Rollomatic CNC cutter grinding machines to manufacture drills, taps, reamers, and other surgical instruments.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC cutter grinding machines (Rollomatic)
- Adjust programs and offsets to maintain tool geometry and quality
- Inspect tools using precision measuring equipment
- Maintain consistent quality and documentation requirements
- Work with engineering and production teams to develop grinding processes
Qualifications:- Experience operating CNC cutter grinding machines (e.g., Rollomatic, ANCA, Walter)
- Strong understanding of cutting tool geometry (drills, taps, reamers, end mills, form tools)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with grinding wheel selection, dressing, and optimization
- Familiarity with programming cutter grinders and making on-the-fly adjustments
- Experience working with tight-tolerance components in medical device or aerospace industries
- Knowledge of various materials including stainless steels, cobalt chrome, titanium, and carbide
- Experience with inspection equipment (optical comparator, tool presetter, vision systems, micrometers, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot grinding processes
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs or setups
- Prior experience in a regulated environment (ISO 13485, FDA) is a plus

- Mentoring or training experience for junior operators
