Assists the professional nursing team members by performing certified nursing assistant duties according to Pinnacle Living policies and procedures. Provides encouragement and assistance designed to motivate residents to their maximum level of independence.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

Graduate from an approved Nursing Assistant Program. Credentialed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Virginia. CPR/AED certification required. 2 years of experience preferred.

Job Duties

Provide the residents assistance with activities of daily living including but not limited to personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, nourishment and fluids, skin care, turning and positioning for residents with limited mobility per care plan or service plan.

Assist residents with their dining experience, ensuring residents receive their meals and assist them with eating when needed.

Assist resident one-on-one with life enrichment programming in accordance with their individualized service plan.

Observes residents' behavior patterns and reports all changes/differences to nurse in charge for care plan and individualized service plan revisions.

Assist residents in and out of bed, walk with residents according to plan of care or service plan, and assist residents to the bathroom as needed.

Change bed linens at least twice per week and as needed.

Completes weights and vitals per plan of care or service plan.

Participate in updating residents' plan of care or service plan.

Document care provided in medical record.

Responds to call lights pleasantly within established guidelines.

Assists residents to social and dining events and encourages their participation.

Provides emotional support, comfort, and safety to all residents.

Monitor resident safety and immediately report any accidents and unusual occurrences to the nurse in charge.

Keep the environment neat, clean, and safe.

Reports faulty equipment and safety hazards to the nurse in charge immediately.

Attend in-service education programs, team conferences, care plan, or individualized service plan (IAP) meetings as scheduled.

Complete Relias Learning assignments and all other assigned in-services.

Uphold the resident Bill of Rights.

All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within nursing assistance, typically acquired through certified program.

Ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.

Ability to perform basic math computations.

Demonstrates working knowledge of common medical processes and treatments.

Ability to clean up bodily fluids or simple safety hazard based on situation and need.

SUPERVISION and Decision Making

Moderate level of guidance and direction - work is reviewed at critical points for soundness of judgement and overall adequacy.

Independent decisions are made based on standard policies and practices.

Ability to assist resident based on nurse plans and direction.

Basic problem solving. Problems are solved with the next highest level of guidance from a more experienced tech.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

May include frequent lifting (up to 50lbs).

Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing, pushing and pulling.

Work is fast paced with multiple tasks.

Ability to work inside and outside to effectively make rounds daily throughout the facility and to respond to problems and emergencies.

Universal staffing. Flexibility in scheduling as work on weekends, evening holidays and during inclement weather is required to meet the needs of the residents.

Exposure to the sights, sounds and smells of a typical healthcare environment including interacting with persons who have dementia.
