Job Summary
An experienced professional is needed to support aerospace and commercial precision machining operations in Elk Grove Village, IL. The role involves developing and maintaining CMM programs, conducting various inspections, creating inspection plans, and ensuring compliance with customer and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Write, review, modify, and maintain CMM programs using Metrolog X4 and ArcoCAD.
- Develop offline CMM programs from CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Support the migration of legacy CMM programs into the Metrolog X4 platform.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing inspection programs to improve efficiency and repeatability.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using CMM equipment and conventional inspection tools.
- Utilize micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment.
- Verify product conformity through both automated and manual inspection methods.
- Create and review AS9102 FAIR packages, including ballooned drawings and inspection documentation.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop inspection plans.
- Assist with nonconforming material investigations and disposition activities.
- Support compliance with AS9100 quality system requirements.
- Participate in audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain calibration records and support calibration activities.
- Assist in developing inspection methods, standard work instructions, and training materials.
- Work closely with Engineering and Production to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Manage multiple priorities while working independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of CMM programming experience.
- Experience with Metrolog X4, ArcoCAD, PC-DMIS, MODUS, or similar CMM software.
- Strong GD&T and blueprint interpretation skills.
- Experience creating inspection plans from engineering drawings.
- Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections and preparing FAIR packages preferred.
- Ability to independently develop inspection strategies, establish datum structures, and determine measurement methods for complex machined components.
- Proficiency using conventional inspection equipment.
- Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO-based Quality Management System.
- Experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and nonconformance reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Unipoint experience preferred.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree in a technical field preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of precision machining quality experience.
- Minimum 5 years of CMM programming experience.
Compensation
$45–$55 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated CMM programming ability.
