Duties and Responsibilities: • The CMA/LPN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. • The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures. • They maintain and review patient records, communicate plans of care, and may assist with scheduling appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability. • The CMA/LPN also screens patients for appropriate information, provides patient education, observes and reports on patients conditions, and administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.

Qualifications: LPN Must be a licensed LPN in the state of SC Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, NHA, AMT or NCCT is required. CMA must be a graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association, or its successor; by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, or its successor; by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or its successor; or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. The accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program must include courses in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical laboratory techniques, and clinical experience.
