Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure)
Overview / Summary
The Office of Information Technology Services is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the deployment and management of the State-Wide Information Technology Shared Services Cloud initiatives and projects. This role will help further develop the State of South Carolina Cloud Strategy, support State agency cloud adoption, and assist with the managed cloud broker. The position will also support day-to-day operations and migrations to AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure as the organization transitions to a managed cloud broker.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform system administration, automation, and development tasks for the Cloud Management Platform (CMP).
- Work with DTO and customer personnel to facilitate migrations to the DTO cloud infrastructure.
- Maintain continuity of shared services offered across AWS and Azure.
- Assist with day-to-day cloud operations and infrastructure migrations.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or architecture experience.
- 8+ years of technical architecture experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and 8+ years of technical architecture experience with relevant hands-on engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in Terraform infrastructure as code.
- Understanding of scaling technologies and solutions.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container platforms.
- 5–7 years of AWS experience (IAM, Organizations, Networking Architectures, Cost Management controls, etc.).
- 3–5 years of Azure experience (RBAC, Azure AD, Networking Architectures, Cost Management controls, etc.).
- 3–7 years of enterprise cloud architecture or governance experience.
- 3–5 years of Terraform and infrastructure as code experience.
- 3–5 years of cloud migrations and platform operations experience.
- 3+ years of technical leadership and knowledge transfer experience.
- Public cloud infrastructure expertise.
- Experience with security, penetration testing, and threat detection tools.
- Experience with ServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, and/or Aviatrix.
- Background in DevOps, Software Development, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering.
- Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment.
- AWS and/or Azure certifications.
