Cloud Data Migration Engineer (Systems Analyst III)
Hybrid | Austin, TX 78751
Pay: $86.66/hour
Contract: September 1, 2026, through August 31, 2027 (possible extension)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (State holidays observed)
 
Are you an experienced Cloud Data Migration Engineer with expertise in AWS and Oracle migrations? We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead enterprise cloud migration initiatives, modernize legacy systems, and support large scale AWS migration projects. This hybrid opportunity offers the chance to work with cutting edge cloud technologies while collaborating with cross functional teams in an Agile environment.
 
What You'll Do
As a Cloud Data Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise data migration solutions from Oracle to AWS while ensuring security, scalability, and minimal downtime.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement Oracle to AWS migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).
  • Execute full load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real time streaming data migrations.
  • Develop migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and deployment documentation.
  • Build and manage AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, routing tables, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
  • Configure and support AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Design and support ETL and ELT processes for enterprise cloud migration projects.
  • Automate migration and deployment activities using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Monitor cloud environments using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
  • Support hybrid cloud and on premises connectivity while modernizing legacy applications.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Create technical documentation, migration runbooks, and implementation guides.
 
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of enterprise technology solutions.
  • 8+ years of hands on experience using AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) to migrate Oracle databases to AWS.
  • 8+ years of experience with full load, CDC, batch, and real time streaming data migration architectures.
  • Strong experience designing AWS infrastructure, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
  • Experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda.
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL and ELT data integration processes.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience implementing cloud security and networking best practices.
  • Experience using AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail for monitoring and logging.
  • Experience developing migration strategies, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and minimizing downtime.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience producing technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and legacy application modernization.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS certifications such as:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    • AWS Certified Database – Specialty
  • Experience supporting public sector or state government technology initiatives.
