Job Description Summary:
The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) is seeking a full-time, mid-career or senior academic clinician scientist (Associate Professor or Professor) with demonstrated interest in research and behavioral interventions. The successful candidate will join a burgeoning team of physicians, psychologists, and allied health professionals in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as the University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) and the Center for Survivorship and Patient-Oriented Research (CSPOR). This position will be at least 75% research (clinical research, translational research), with the remaining effort split between clinical care and education. Responsibilities center on development of multidisciplinary, grant-funded behavioral interventions in cancer survivors and caregivers. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of excellence in clinical care, originality and productivity in research, existing or potential for consistent extramural funding, and an interest in graduate and medical education.
Tenure: Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. This position is recruiting a Clinician-Investigator.

Required Qualifications:
Education: MD or PhD in a field related to Mental Health. Graduate of U.S. accredited program in appropriate graduate field. Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas to do clinical work.
This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Work Experience: Research performance history, including as principal investigator of federally-funded awards, is required. Expertise leading behavioral interventions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Work Experience: R01-funding or equivalent, experience interfacing with other medical school and hospital departments & expertise in an area related to Onco-Psychology, especially cancer survivorship, but established programs in other psychiatric areas will be considered.
