The Fountain Group is hiring a Clinical Supply Chain Manager for a prominent client in Gaithersburg, MD.
 
This is a 1-year contract opportunity supporting global clinical trial operations for an industry-leading pharmaceutical organization. The role follows a hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite per week in Gaithersburg, MD.
 
Compensation & Details
  • Pay Rate: $47.00 - $57.00 per hour
  • Duration: 12-Month Contract (Extensions/conversion based on performance and budget)
  • Location: Gaithersburg, MD
  • Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, standard business hours
 
About the Role
We are seeking a Supply Chain Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of clinical trial supplies supporting global studies. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clinical materials are available to patients on time, while balancing supply risks, inventory requirements, quality standards, and study timelines.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in supply chain planning, demand forecasting, project management, inventory management, or pharmaceutical operations who are looking to grow their career within clinical research and development.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end clinical supply activities for assigned studies.
  • Lead supply chain planning and execution to ensure on-time delivery of clinical trial materials.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support study requirements and timeline changes.
  • Monitor supply risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee inventory management activities, including rework, recalls, shelf-life extensions, expiry management, and stock disposition.
  • Utilize Interactive Response Technology (IRT) systems for demand and supply planning.
  • Coordinate with project teams and global partners to maintain effective communication throughout study lifecycles.
  • Support quality management activities, including deviations, change controls, and complaint investigations.
  • Balance study timelines, costs, and supply requirements while ensuring operational excellence.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ year of experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory planning, demand planning, forecasting, project coordination, or related operations environments.
  • Experience supporting clinical supply chain activities. (Required)
  • Understanding of demand planning, forecasting, inventory management, and risk mitigation principles.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, clinical research, or regulated industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Experience supporting clinical development or clinical supply operations.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, including deviations, change controls, and complaints.
  • Experience with inventory planning or supply planning software.
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience.
