Position Summary/Department Summary:

Part time social work position (20 hrs.) needed to provide a range of clinical social work services in the BCH Thyroid Center. The BCH Thyroid Center is one of the first and largest centers in the United States exclusively devoted to the care and treatment of children with thyroid conditions. The Thyroid Center provides a supportive team environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multidisciplinary care to children and adolescents with thyroid nodules and thyroid cancer, including initial evaluation, diagnostic imaging and procedures, surgical treatment, subsequent thyroid cancer care and follow-up, and psychosocial support throughout this process.
  • Psychosocial assessments, individual and family coping support, crisis intervention, and resource navigation. Interventions will be both in person and via telehealth.
  • Collaborating and consulting with the thyroid team around management of psychosocial issues including coping and adjustment to medical diagnoses, difficulties with treatment regimen, family distress related to medical condition, parenting and caregiver concerns, trauma, child protection concerns and domestic violence.
  • Working with the thyroid team to help patients and families gain access to services and resources within and outside of BCH system.
  • Developing new programmatic initiatives to support patients and families in the Thyroid Center.
  • Collaborating with Endocrine Mental Health Team for Endocrine coverage needs

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in social work

Experience:

  • Social work experience in medical environment and with child protection issues preferred.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills necessary.

Licensure/Certification:

  • LCSW Social Work licensure in the state of Massachusetts, LICSW preferred

New hires are eligible for a $2,500 sign-on bonus

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
