Job Description:
Department Description:
The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU at AdventHealth Orlando is a high-volume patient safety hub that continuously monitors approximately 500 adult inpatients. Staffed by highly skilled Monitor Technicians, the CMU provides expert cardiac rhythm surveillance, direct communication with clinical teams, and real-time identification of patient safety concerns.
In addition to telemetry monitoring, the CMU operates a Virtual Patient Observation (VPO program to support fall prevention through continuous remote observation and direct patient interaction. To ensure uninterrupted patient monitoring and staff support, the department utilizes dedicated Monitor Technician and RN Resource roles, as well as Assistant Nurse Manager oversight for clinical consultation, staff development, and escalation management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Clinical mentorship & Advisory: Serve as a clinical resource for telemetry monitor technicians, utilizing nursing knowledge and diagnostic skills to assist with complex cardiac rhythm identification, artifact differentiation, and rhythm interpretation.
Patient Safety & Escalation Management: Partner directly with the Assistant Nurse Manager to lead high-level clinical escalations, ensuring timely communication and intervention across hospital floors during critical patient safety events.
Operational Continuity & Leadership: Assume the full responsibilities and oversight of the Charge Nurse as needed, guaranteeing seamless shift transitions, break coverage, and continuous unit leadership.
