Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator Med-Pediatrics Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh 26001537

This position is for the Division of General Academic Pediatrics (GAP) within the Department of Pediatrics. Travel while rare does occur to the divisions satellite site. If not utilizing public transportation, a valid drivers license is required. It is the expectation that the incumbent will use their own vehicle required for local travel, and the owner of the vehicle must carry automobile liability insurance. The owners automobile liability insurance coverage is primary coverage. The Universitys automobile liability insurance policy provides excess coverage only. Equivalent relevant work experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required prior to the start of employment. Also, a current TB test will be required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patients for qualification/enrollment in research projects and subject groups.
  • Schedules and coordinates study visits with study participants.
  • Conducts study visits, collects clinical and laboratory data as required for completion of all case report forms.
  • Collects patient data including medical histories and physical assessments.
  • Maintains and facilitates data into databases/logs in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performs general laboratory duties including but not limited to:
  • Monitors supply inventory.
  • Monitors temperatures of freezers and refrigerators.
  • Cleans equipment.
  • Disposes of biological waste.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties and insertion of intravenous catheters in addition to other general nursing duties. Blood drawing is a requirement. Prior experience preferred or will be trained.
  • Obtains consents from parents of underage patients and/or patients.
  • Collects, prepares, and processes lab specimens.
  • Ensures all protocol and regulatory standards adherence.
  • Participates in the development of internal review board submissions as requested.
