  • JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

    • Coordinates care of clinical research patients independently across multiple departments. Screens, consents, and enrolls patients based on study eligibility requirements. Collects and processes laboratory and other diagnostic tests required for research. Works with investigators and sponsor to conduct and record study activities per protocol timelines. Acts as the primary liaison between investigators and sponsor to ensure study activities are conducted per protocol. Responsible for required study regulatory adherence. Assists with study acquisition, feasibility, and start-up.

  • DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
    • The SHS Research Institute includes the Human Research Protections Program, Sponsored Program Administration, Clinical Research, Research Administration and Research Development Offices. These departments work together to support research activities and external funding for SHS, including sponsored and investigator-initiated research and quality improvement projects at all stages. The goal of the Research Institute is to foster a culture of scholarly inquiry and promote data-driven discoveries to achieve Samaritan’s mission of enhancing community health.
  • EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
    • One (1) of the following required:
      • Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year clinical research experience.
      • Associate degree, Certified Medical Assistant, or LPN plus three (3) years clinical research experience.
      • Associate degree, Certified Medical Assistant, or LPN plus Clinical Research Certification (CCRC, CCRA or CCRP).
    • Clinical Research Certification (CCRC, CCRA or CCRP) required within three (3) years of hire.
    • Healthcare Provider Level BLS required within 60 days of hire.
    • Experience using clinical research software, electronic data capture systems, informatics or other electronic medical record systems preferred.

    • Communication - Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas.
    • Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to details to ensure a high level of accuracy in data collection and abstraction. Able to read and interpret information from research protocols with a high level of understanding and detail.
    • Time Management- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
    • Adaptability/Flexibility - Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to situations that may arise with high risk or diverse patient populations. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients.
    • Computer Literacy - Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Ability to operate applications, write software, set up functions, enter data, and manipulate and process information.
    • Medical Terminology - Knowledge of medical records, procedures and terminology. Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
