Job Description
The Clinical Programs Manager, Corporate Laboratory Services, is responsible for the education and training of personnel, oversight of the document management program, coordination of projects, and the safety program for all Valley Health System (VHS) Laboratory Services.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manages and coordinates Laboratory projects and initiatives.
Maintains appropriate project management records and documents.
Communicates project status, target dates, assignments, and potential barriers to project stakeholders and Laboratory leadership.
Develops and oversees the Laboratory document management program, including, but not limited to: intranet-based folders and files; shared network drives; and related Laboratory document management software.
Establishes best practices for Laboratory document management and ensures appropriate personnel access permissions.
Collaborates with the Laboratory QA/Accreditation Coordinator to manage review, revision, and creation of Laboratory policies.
Develops and oversees processes related to Laboratory onboarding workflows for employees, agency staff and students.
Oversees training plans and ensures successful completion of Laboratory training checklists and competencies according to regulatory and accreditation standards.
Oversees Student Laboratory Education Program.
Coordinates in-services and other supplemental training events in conjunction with Laboratory entity and departmental staff and pathologists.
Serves as the liaison between Laboratory and Information Services (IS) liaison for HIS, LIS, and other software applications.
Maintains Laboratory Safety Program in conjunction with Laboratory and entity leadership.
Serves as member of the VHS Laboratory leadership team.
Ensures education and training of personnel, oversight of the document management program, coordination of projects, and the safety program performed will follow best practice and meet current regulatory, accreditation and compliance standards.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science is required.
Masters degree is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist (MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) is required.
Minimum 5 years of management experience in a clinical laboratory setting is required.
Project management experience is preferred.
Certification & Licensure
ASCP or equivalent Board certification is required.
Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to mentor staff required.
Demonstrates knowledge/competency in providing service to patients of all ages including neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric required.
Effective education and training skills required.
