Position Summary

The Clinical Program Manager serves as a key operational and clinical leader within the Hermann Center, supporting the integration and coordination of clinical services, research activities, community partnerships, training initiatives, and program evaluation efforts. The position works collaboratively with Center leadership, Principal Investigators, faculty, staff, trainees, and community partners to ensure the effective delivery of services and advancement of the Center''s mission.

The Clinical Program Manager provides leadership for day-to-day clinical operations and implementation of Center initiatives while facilitating communication, collaboration, and alignment across multidisciplinary teams. This role supports the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of programs serving pregnant and postpartum individuals, young children, caregivers, and families, while advancing the clinical, educational, research, and community engagement missions of the Hermann Center and the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Working in partnership with Center leadership and Principal Investigators, the Clinical Program Manager translates strategic priorities into operational plans and supports implementation across the Center. While major clinical, research, and strategic decisions remain the responsibility of Center leadership, this position exercises substantial autonomy in coordinating day-to-day operations, supporting staff performance, leading quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring effective integration across the Center''s clinical, research, training, and community-focused activities.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Clinical Services

  • Provide evidence-based early childhood psychotherapy services to children and families.
  • Deliver developmentally informed, relationship-focused interventions.
  • Conduct assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.

Clinical Operations and Multidisciplinary Team Leadership

  • Coordinate day-to-day clinical operations and support efficient service delivery across Hermann Center programs.
  • Provide operational leadership for multidisciplinary teams including therapists, trainees, case management staff, resource navigation personnel, peer support specialists, community program staff, research personnel, and administrative support staff.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among clinical, research, educational, and community-facing team members.
  • Monitor program workflows, access, referral processes, documentation standards, and operational expectations.
  • Identify operational barriers and implement solutions that improve efficiency, coordination, and patient experience.
  • Collaborate with Center leadership to implement strategic priorities and operational initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment of team activities with the mission, goals, and quality standards of the Hermann Center and Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Staff Development, Training, and Performance Support

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and ongoing support to clinical and support staff.
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees.
  • Support professional development and workforce development initiatives.
  • Contribute feedback regarding staff performance, competencies, and professional growth to Center and division leadership.
  • Support learner experiences for students, trainees, fellows, and other educational programs.
  • Promote dissemination and implementation of evidence-based and relationship-focused interventions.
  • Foster a collaborative and psychologically safe work environment that supports employee engagement and retention.

Clinical-Research Integration, Quality Improvement, and Program Evaluation

  • Facilitate collaboration between clinical and research teams to support the Center's integrated mission.
  • Support implementation of research initiatives within clinical workflows.
  • Lead program evaluation, quality improvement, and outcome monitoring activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, investigators, and operational staff to identify meaningful performance metrics.
  • Utilize data to improve clinical services, patient outcomes, operational effectiveness, and access to care.
  • Support reporting, accreditation, compliance, and quality assurance activities.
  • Assist in translating research findings into clinical practice and program development.

Stakeholder Coordination and Center Integration

  • Support coordination and communication across the Hermann Center's clinical, research, educational, operational, and community-facing activities.
  • Facilitate collaboration among clinical staff, research personnel, trainees, peer support services, case management staff, community program staff, and Center leadership.
  • Collaborate with Center leadership and designated staff to support implementation of recommendations and priorities emerging from advisory boards, stakeholder groups, and institutional partnerships.
  • Ensure operational alignment between Center initiatives and the broader missions of the Hermann Center, the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Washington University School of Medicine.
  • Assist leadership in implementing strategic priorities and translating decisions into operational workflows and program activities.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
