Job Description Summary
The clinical pharmacy specialist will work within our outpatient clinics to help optimize patient outcomes and participate in interprofessional collaboration. This position reports to an Ambulatory Pharmacy Manager and collaborates closely with the clinics healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will be motivated, possess a wide clinical knowledge base, demonstrate strong communication and time management skills, and be able to work in a team environment to provide safe and efficient patient care.

Purpose The Clinical Specialist provides distributive and clinical pharmacy services to the inpatients and outpatients of the Medical University Hospitals and clinics.

The position of Clinical Pharmacy Specialist requires a doctoral degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy. Preferred Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency program. Two years of clinical or hospital pharmacy experience may substitute for the clinical pharmacy residency program.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current Basic Life Support BLS required either a certification from an American Heart Association AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA recognized equivalent or an American Red Cross CPRAED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Minimum Training and Education
Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelors degree in pharmacy. Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations
Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy. Current American Heart Association AHA Basic Life Support BLS certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
